I read a lot of comic books to pass my time. I claim they're for research or to help me be a better writer or something like that, but let's be honest - a lot of it is for fun. Comic books are colorful and flashy and, most of the time, they tell a really good story, one that can last a longer than a movie, so I get more time to invest in a character. I like that. Being able to find a hero to latch onto and follow his story wherever it goes. It's comforting to know that, at least in make-believe, there are heroes. There are men and women who have not only the physical ability, but the strength of mind and will and heart to withstand pain for the good of the everyman.
In real life, we seem to be creating supervillains in a world without heroes.
