I haven't been great at keeping up on writing blog posts here. This transition to a new hosting site for the blog was supposed to make all the difference, but as my friend Jason regularly tells me, the tool doesn't so matter as much as the actual writing.
Regardless, I've been busy. My writing time, lately, consists of existential panic that I can't think of a way to write Raise Hell in a manner that suits my tastes. I'm starting to wonder if there is a way to write it with the story idea I have right now. It might need a ton of tweaking before it's a feasible story.
I say all this, of course, with 2 issues written. We're pretending those didn't happen though.
I've even made some drastic changes already. Sometimes, they seem like the right answers. Others, it just seems I'm spinning my wheels in the dirt and not actually making it out of the hole I'm in.
Maybe all this means that it's time to set aside Raise Hell for a while and come back to it with a clearer mind. Maybe it's the project.
Or it could be the circumstance. Moving has been a weight on me for quite some time. Maybe whatever I'd be writing around this time was doomed just because it was at a time where I had a lot of other stuff going on.
Maybe these are all just excuses, justifications, I'm cooking up in my head for something that is genuinely hard. Writing is genuinely hard.
Coming here hasn't been easy lately either. When I'm on top of my game, writing pages per day, it's easy to come here and say you should write. When I'm struggling to get a few words into an outline, it's a little bit harder to recommend or cheerlead any of you on your way. It's a slog and it's hard to push someone through it when you're stuck in it.
I hope that does a little to explain what's been going on. Why those of you who subscribe or look for the link on Facebook or Twitter haven't seen anything in a while.
All I can say is I'll try to do better. The other side of this hill has to be somewhere close, right?
