I've lost my course with this blog. All of my last posts have been less fun and more work. That's how I know something is off. The trouble is, I just don't know what it is. I want to fix it. I want my blog to be something worth reading for you and something worth writing for me, but I don't know what it's missing anymore. That's why, in the spirit of the community I hope this blog can be, I'm going to do the first ever Choose Your Own Adventure blog posts!
I'm not picturing it as a way to write stories (though that really could be fun), but just a way to let this blog give what you all are looking to get. You'll get to pick the topic of each post. Kind of feels good to have that much power, doesn't it?
I keep thinking this blog should be about writing, but that doesn't seem to have much of an effect. I'm not published or produced or anything, so it's likely that no one takes me seriously when I write about writing. That's okay. I don't know if I'd read my musings about writing if I wasn't me.
I just like the idea of having documented my thoughts about writing while I'm still unknown. That way, if I get famous someday (as famous as a writer can be), I can look back and smile at how silly I was for all of those years.
But, like I said, these posts won't be chosen by me for a while. So here goes, your first Choose Your Own Adventure moment.
You open up MichaelUlrichWrites.com on Saturday morning, a warm cup of coffee by your side and a weathered golden retriever at your feet. As the page loads, far too slowly, you find yourself face-to-face with this topic: 1. Thoughts about doing the work you're made to do. 2. Thoughts about writing. 3. Thoughts about life in general. 4. Updates on projects I'm working on.
Go ahead. Leave your comment with where you want this blog to go. This idea can only work if you participate. And if there's a number 5 you'd rather see, post that too.
